Hey Kellie,
I missed this FWF (amongst others in the month of May, which i will slowly try to cover it up). Here’s my prompt for this one: http://latenightthought.wordpress.com/2013/06/07/fwf-feeling-homesick-for-a-place-that-does-not-exist/
🙂 This one was a lovely Prompt.
Hullo. Here is my entry: http://xxculture.wordpress.com/2013/05/21/free-write-tuesday/ Now I have a LOT of reading to do…

Hi Kelle and others, here is my post for this week’s prompt. If you can’t find it, please let me know and I will beg Kellie to fix it for me!! I am a computer geek and have no idea how to fix it!! Now, on to read your wonderful responses, have a great weekend, Laurie
Hibernation, I couldn’t find it…your site does tell me I am lost…maybe I am…
Oops, actually I did find it, just not directly through your link, but it is there. 🙂
Here it is Kellie, I absolutely hate not being able to spell check or puncuate but I hope it is good the way it is. This one I thought would be hard but once started it took on a life of it’s own. Love to you my friend:)

I love this week’s prompt! It made me slow down and appreciate my life right now.
Loved your take on the prompt!
I found this in my morning writing session – have spent the day at work, at the new house and desperately trying to meet a submission deadline, now I have time to do FWF and it is just after midnight! FWESM! 😉
Love the prompt.

A lovely challenge. Thanks, Kellie! Here’s my effort … Be well, Dorothy 🙂 http://dorothymcdonall.wordpress.com/2013/05/17/fwf-free-write-friday-image-prompt/
Hi Kellie! I don’t have a blog yet to write this on but I LOVED this prompt so if it’s okay I’ll past it here:
It’s like you feel homesick for a place that doesn’t even exist
That first brush with the wild; nothing tangible, nothing graspable
But you find yourself chasing that quicksilver through your fingers
It’s almost the desolate, uninhibited howl of the wind atop a mountain peak
But not quite; the voice is different, its accents as foreign as they are beguiling
It’s almost the vastness of the arctic expanse; stretching until you implode
And your lungs are as open as the tundra, and your existence blurs more significant and more transient
Into somewhere between the ancient permanence of those frozen sentinels
And the tiny smear of life that you possess, more fragile here than anywhere else on earth
A feeling shocking in its reality; jolting in its animation; a call that cannot be heard elsewhere; alien in my previous denial of it.
I cannot capture it; it skitters aside my halting fingers, now numbed even as they exalt in this awakening, soul-entering chill, returning the shivers to my spine beneath a skin too accustomed to the batterings of city life instead
Like a horse that approaches and shy-dances aside at that moment, asserting its freedom and yet staying in view
Perhaps my memory has been passed from those Ice Age triumphs; a glimmer of torch-lit caves and the first stirrings of imagination
Perhaps a part of me seeks its return; a regression through ages unknown; fluttering against my consciousness like a moth against a bulb
Sputtering and nearing; veering and peeling back the layers, into the most vital and visceral capacity I posess
But I don’t know; because I cannot capture it
But if it is uncapturable, it is eternally chaseable
My hunt is to follow; to feel; not to pin into a scrapbook, to fade and fall
If I knew what it was, I’d know where to find it, and half the chase would be lost
Instead, I must be lost instead; have that chance of returning
To keep my spirit afire, and my heart throbbing with the chance to find my way as yet uncarved
For I will return to a place they cannot find, and will tell me no longer exists
I don’t need their reasons; nor their refusals. It will always exist, even if it stays out of reach, I will be more because I have tracked its horizons, and felt myself expand.
Laura xx
Laura … thank you for sharing … I love this line:
To keep my spirit afire, and my heart throbbing with the chance to find my way as yet uncarved
Thank you Annie, I think that was my crux-line! 😀
Some great descriptions, I liked this line lots.
My hunt is to follow; to feel; not to pin into a scrapbook, to fade and fall
Thank you Nina I really appreciate that because SoC is a strange beast, afterwards I kind of want to cut bits out but then think nooooo that would defeat the whole object – so your comment was a reassuring validation!
Laura!!! Sooooooo very happy to have you come by and write for me. ♥
You gave me chills with this and I could not help but sigh aloud as I read it over and over. Just beautiful. Thank you xoxox
Aww thank you so much Kellie what a wonderful thing to say! ❤ xx
Here is mine for this week. Wasn’t sure where it was going then when I got started it flowed. http://www.anauthorandhermuse.com/home-away-from-home.html
Okay, so I posted, got up from my desk and walked away. But something kept pushing at me. So I came back, opened up a clean page and this poured out. Evidently I was not quite done.

An enjoyable read!
Thank you, for both! 🙂
Okay my first go at this Free Write Friday. I have to say not being able to go back and fix those red, green and blue squiggly lines screaming at me is torture!.

Loved your poem Annie! This verse especially
As though sleepwalking
through someone else’s life
seeing a movie unfolding
scene after scene before
my eyes
Yet, still not knowing
Who or Where
I am
